GRAVHOUNDS Review Roundup: Early Access Verdicts So Far

Early GRAVHOUNDS reviews are positive with caveats. Insider Gaming scores it 8/10 for its horde combat, building and replay value, while LT3 calls the launch fun but thin on content. On Steam, player reviews sit at Very Positive (94% of 67 on launch day). The game costs $19.99, or $14.99 with the 25% launch discount until November 16, and is included with Game Pass.

What Critics Say

Insider Gaming gave GRAVHOUNDS 8/10 and called it a strong debut for Octopus Panic. The review praises the exciting horde fights, the node, module and turret networks, the voice acting and the fluid movement. Its main complaint is a small weapon pool and roster of Gravhounds at launch.

LT3 found it chaotic fun with four players, highlighting the low-gravity jetpack movement, the grav gun that throws minerals and teammates, and downed players turning into plush dogs you carry home. It criticised basic talents, characters that feel alike and progression that does not yet pull you back after a few days.

Rogueliker's first impressions praised the visuals and the solo campaign. Critic aggregators list only a handful of scores so far, so expect the picture to change as more reviews land.

What Steam Players Say

On launch day the Steam store showed Very Positive user reviews, 94% of 67. Early player reviews from a launch week tend to come from fans of the demo, so the score may move as more people play.

Common praise mirrors the critics: the co-op chaos, the dogs and the building. Common requests are more jobs, weapons and Gravhounds, which the developer plans to add during Early Access.

Pros and Cons at a Glance

A summary of the points reviewers agree on.

  • Pro: tense, readable horde combat with a strong build-and-defend loop.
  • Pro: great with friends; 1–4 player online co-op.
  • Pro: charming dogs, voice acting and movement.
  • Con: limited weapons and Gravhounds at launch.
  • Con: shallow talents and progression for now.
  • Con: solo is playable but harder early on.

Is GRAVHOUNDS Worth It?

If you have Game Pass, yes: it costs nothing extra to try. On Steam, the $14.99 launch price until November 16 is fair for a few evenings of co-op, and the developer says the price is expected to rise as the game grows.

Early Access is planned to last roughly six months or longer, with more Gravhounds, jobs, worlds, enemies and weapons promised. If you want a finished game with deep progression, waiting is reasonable.
