GRAVHOUNDS Last Mission: What the Demo's Endgame Asks of You

There is no officially named last mission yet, because the full game only enters Early Access on November 2, 2026. In the demo, the endgame is the second star system, including the Kilnfield refinery job with its four-station puzzle. Every mission then ends the same way: start launch prep, survive the final wave and get everyone aboard.

What Counts as the Last Mission Right Now

The October 2026 demo contains 7 planets across 2 solar systems. The developer has not named a final mission for Early Access, and that content has not been revealed. When players talk about the last mission today, they mean the second system's jobs.

The story goal is to keep taking jobs that bring the crew closer to home. In the official trailer, COSMO reminds you that every resource gets you one step closer. Our story mode guide explains how that framing works.

Demo Endgame at a Glance

These are the confirmed facts about the demo's late content. Full Early Access content has not been revealed.

  • Demo size: 7 planets across 2 solar systems.
  • Known late job: the Kilnfield refinery in the second system.
  • Refinery stations: plunger, crystals, wheel and levers.
  • Hardest playtest planet: Purrmafrost, just over 50% success.
  • Every mission ends with launch prep and a final wave.

The Second Star System

After the tutorial job, recorded demo sessions show a second system unlocking with higher challenge ratings. One job asks you to connect a fuel pump and keep it running until the tanks are full. Others involve resource collection, destroying hostile hives or fighting larger enemies.

Planets carry a challenge rating, and harder planets offer better materials. In the playtest telemetry, Purrmafrost had the lowest success rate at just over 50%, against an average of around 70%. Expect the later planets to punish weak defences.

Kilnfield Refinery: Puzzle Solution

Kilnfield is the refinery job in the second star system, and it stalls many groups. The refinery periodically freezes, and one of four stations around it shows the action needed to restart it. A player solution on the Steam forums was confirmed by the original poster, who then cleared it three times, twice solo.

  • Plunger: grab the piece in the middle and pull it back.
  • Crystals: use the mining laser on all four crystals until the light above each turns green.
  • Wheel: spin it so the indicator stops on the green bulb, and hold it there until the input is accepted.
  • Levers: pull the lever with the red light; another turns red, so repeat until all four are green.

How Every Mission Ends

The developer's gameplay overview walks through the end of a job. Once the objective is done, you prep the ship for launch from a terminal. Then you hold out for one final wave until the Collector is ready.

When the Collector is ready, everyone races aboard and the ship takes off for the mining ship. Anyone outside at launch is left behind. Players note that only one person controls when the leaving countdown starts, so agree on timing first.

Preparing for the Final Wave

The overview says the final wave is when everything you built and upgraded during the session really matters. Turrets earn experience in combat and can be promoted to stronger variants. Reward pods during the run add Mods that raise your combat power.

Previewers warn against rushing the objective before your base is ready. If you ignore defence, the Collector can fall, and the mission ends if it is destroyed. Build along the pipeline before you trigger anything that draws the swarm.

Mission Types You'll Face

Demo jobs vary from planet to planet. Previewers describe collecting a set amount of a resource, finding and escorting an item or character, destroying hostile hives and fighting larger enemies. Each planet sets a different main objective.

One preview channel noted the first job asks for 750 nitrate, which takes a long time solo. Other jobs include connecting and defending a fuel pump, escorting Coffee Cat and running the Kilnfield refinery. Points of interest around the map offer bonus resources, turrets and blueprints.

Difficulty and Challenge Ratings

Each planet on the holo table shows a challenge rating, and the second star system pushes it higher. The Steam page says the higher the risk, the greater the rewards. Riskier planets hold better materials.

Some players found difficulty uneven, with certain missions much harder than others regardless of rating. One forum player said a level 3 hazard mission felt easy, while the Coffee Cat escort was very hard. Another reported that two players felt harder than solo, as enemy numbers scale with the team.

Co-op Tips for the Endgame

The developer overview shows an artifact too heavy for one Gravhound, so the crew must carry it back together. Teamwork matters most in the last stretch of a job. Agree on roles before starting launch prep.

  • One player keeps turrets repaired near the Collector.
  • One player handles the objective, such as a refinery station.
  • Everyone regroups at the ship before the countdown ends.
  • Revive downed teammates; they get a second chance if friends cooperate.

After the Last Planet

Players who cleared the demo report replaying on a higher difficulty. One forum post says the next difficulty turns into a lot of turret repair work in multiplayer. Another player says they finished the demo campaign three times while hunting for blueprints.

Demo progress will not carry over to Early Access. That makes the demo endgame a good place to practise rather than to grind. Use it to learn your best character and Mod Deck setup.
